Qu'est-ce Que Keiki?

So what is in the name of this blog?

Golden keikis?

Keiki means child in Hawaiian. There are many Hawaiian words that are part of our local vernacular. We say that we are pau when we are done. We heleon when we leave. We bid aloha when we see and when we leave someone we care about. Now our little keiki is having keikis and that will make us kupuna, or elderly ones.

Or not.

Golden is obvious. Our lil Piña is golden. But we also live on the gold coast of the Big Island. If we take it a step further, dorado is golden in Spanish and it is also a delicious fish we eat here frequently.

So, golden keikis. A dream come true. A big drop in my bucket list.

Here are some pictures of Jalapeño when she was a wee keiki herself. Just because. You can never look at too many puppy pictures!
