Our Little Runt and Big Purple

There is a 5.6 ounce weight difference between our smallest and our largest puppy. Lil Runt was the second of only two white puppies to be born in this litter. It is interesting genetically because the puppies have a 75% white bloodline and a 25% dark-red bloodline. Of the nine, two are very white and the rest are a creamy golden color, lighter than their mama.

This is our Runt. She was born eighth and was clearly at a disadvantage in the womb as she came out so small.

Good things come in small packages!

Giving her best baby seal imitation.

Getting her beauty sleep after climbing all over everyone.

That disadvantage is now gone because she has been churning those little legs to drive her directly to her mama's nipple every chance she gets. She's small, but scrappy, like my mom. She eats upside down, sideways, from around the corner and the other side of the leg. She does milk-stands like she is the craziest kid at an out-of-control kegger.

Here is a video of the puppies eating. Runt is the little one to the right of red. You can't see her head! Purple is also part of the scene. He is easy to find.

Since Runt is small, she finds the wriggle room she needs to place herself front and center at the milk bar. She is spunky and tough and we have really come to adore her.

Smallest beebs at the top of the pile.

Persistence in the face of hair pays off!

Puppy milk-stand!

Reach around!

Napping after all that work.

T'was a well-deserved siesta.

She is a very active dreamer and here is a video of her sleeping, twitching cuteness!

Big Purple is the opposite of Lil Runt. He is our biggest puppy and popped out second, clocking in at a solid 17 ounces at birth. He is now up to 19.6 ounces. He has a huge head and is very relaxed. He can be quite hilarious as well.

One-Eye Blue is popular with all the puppies.

Its a big old little head!

He looks serious because he likes to dream serious dreams!

Eating with his peeps

Here is a video of Purple chowing down. Note the tail wagging!

Here we have Purple searching for the perfect nap spot. Not sure what was wrong with the first one, but then again, I am not a puppy!

And here, Purple is dreaming purple dreams.

And so Day 2 is passing by. Jalapeño is much more comfortable with the puppies, as am I. We both got some sleep last night.

Snoozin' with her babes.

Now that is dog tired!

Taking a quick break to watch the sunset!
